| Clinical professionals
have traditionally prescribed exercise for difficulties
of the pelvic floor. New advances in technology has
discovered ways to add progressive weight resistance
training to traditional methods of treatment, greatly
increasing the muscle’s strength and in a much
shorter time.
The
Maximum Pelvic Trainer™ (MPT)
The MPT is a medical device designed specifically to
strengthen the pelvic floor muscles of men and women.
The MPT takes the traditional pelvic exercise and adds
the principles of progressive resistance weight training.
Those for whom the MPT is recommended are a diverse
group and commonly include patients preparing for or
recovering from prostate, colon or bladder surgery;
suffering with diabetes; experiencing fecal or urinary
incontinence; or seeking relief from lower back pain.
Others have used the MPT simply to gain strength and
control for personal reasons.
The MPT is a FDA registered medical device designed
specifically to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles
of men and women where the FPT is not a viable option.
Maximum
Effectiveness With Minimum Effort
The Ralston Group began operations around the patented
Feminine Personal Trainer(tm) or FPT. This is the first
product to apply the principles of true weight training
for the pelvic floor muscles of women. After numerous
requests from health care professionals to offer an
option for men, the design team working with leading
clinical researchers and physical therapists developed
the Maximum Personal Trainer or MPT.
The MPT holds the
promise of revolutionizing the treatment and/or recovery
of prostate, colon and bladder surgery, while improving
the quality of life for diabetics and trauma patients.
Even though the MPT was designed for men, women are
also using the MPT. Certain medical conditions may exist
preventing women from using the vaginal FPT. In these
cases, women are still able to receive the same strength
training benefit with the MPT.

The
Solution Begins with You
The pelvic muscles are the third most important muscle
group in the body, preceded only by the heart and diaphragm.
Your health care providers should be able to answer
your questions, or you may call our knowledgeable, understanding
counselors. We hope you will take this first step to
improving your quality of life.

Adding weight resistance
to any muscle greatly increases the effectiveness of
exercise, and the pelvic muscles are no different. They
will respond quickly and dramatically to weight training.
If you want to maximize the effectiveness of your current
course of treatment, ask your health care professional
about pelvic exercise with the MPT.
Patients

My circumstances compelled me to try the MPT, and I
have to admit to being reluctant at first. However,
my experience and my results have been very positive.
I chose to do my exercise in the privacy of my shower,
and my first session showed me how out of shape I really
was. I now see progress every week. What a difference
the MPT is making in my life. E.R.
I believe that not
only people with my condition but every person can benefit
from using the MPT. I cannot even begin to describe
the differences that increasing strength and gaining
control has to offer. You have to experience it to believe
it. M.M.
The MPT exercises
my pelvic floor muscles and I noticed a difference within
the first week. The problem I had with constipation
disappeared, and the pain I was having in my lower back
eased. R.P.

Product Questions
How
does the MPT work?
The secret of the MPT system is in the inter-working
of the progressive weight system and the tapered sides
of the product. The device is inserted slightly into
the rectum and a series of contractions are performed;
the tapered sides cause the product to be pulled upward.
While this occurs, several important actions are taking
place. First, the weight is being lifted. Second, the
muscles are constricting on the diminishing diameter
of the tapered sides. Third, the entire floor from front
to back is lifting weight and receiving a workout. Finally,
the nerves of the floor are being stimulated.
To receive the benefits
of weight training, upward movement of the pelvic floor
must be resisted by the weight This is the only way
to strengthen pelvic floor muscles of men with resistive
exercises, whereas women may use either the MPT or the
FPT.
The MPT is used
in a standing position and the resistance is increased
by adding a series of weights to the end of the device.
The progressive resistive program is begun by using
the main unit without additional weight. This provides
eight ounces of resistance. A method of adding a series
of weighted disks to the base of the MPT allows the
patient four different weight levels. When a patient’s
strength allows, weights are added up to a total unit
weight of 16 ounces. Each level increases the weight
by 25%.
Adding weight as
strength progresses is the foundation for rapid strength
gains and offers a customized program for each user.
Patients are able to train and progress at their own
pace and to reach maximal potential in minimal time.
Why
should I consider using it?
Health care providers may have recommended our product
to you because they recognize the advantages of progressive
weight training, biofeedback and retraining the pelvic
muscles. The combination of these aspects leads to stronger
muscles in less time. Exercise professionals support
the principle that adding weight to exercise improves
results and decreases the time required to reach your
goals. Given the choice, wouldn’t you prefer improved
results in less time?
What
is “Progressive Weight Training?”
Simply put, progressive weight training is the ability
to add additional weight as strength increases. A patent-pending
method of adding a series of weight disks to the base
of the MPT allows the patient four different weight
levels. Adding weight as strength progresses is the
foundation for rapid strength gains and offers a customized
program for each user.

What
is “Retraining” the Pelvic Floor?
As an athlete progresses in his training, both his strength
and skill increase. The same is true for the pelvic
floor. When you first begin using the MPT, performing
a proper contraction will require focused attention.
However, after only a few sessions, you will notice
that the process becomes more natural. You will not
have to “think” about it as much, and soon
the exercise will become almost effortless. At that
point, you have “retrained” the muscles.
What
is biofeedback?
Biofeedback has long been used by the medical profession
as a primary means of retraining muscles of the body.
As you perform a contraction, you will feel the product
move up and inward. As the device moves, you have confirmation
that you are doing the exercises correctly and are gaining
strength. Biofeedback simply gives the patient a physical
measure of a performed action.
How
soon will I see results?
Research indicates that strength levels can increase
by 50% in the first week of use—a result many
times faster than with traditional exercises. Most patients
begin with no weight attached but, within a week or
two, are ready to move to the next of four different
levels. This progress should continue to grow on a consistent
basis.
How
long does it take to perform the exercises?
At first, you may become fatigued after only a few minutes.
Soon, you should see your stamina and strength will
increase. As standard practice, we do not recommend
exercising for longer than 10 minutes every other day.
Can
I ever quit using the MPT?
You can quit at any point in the program. However, as
with any exercise program, you would begin to lose muscle
tone. Once you have reached your initial health goals,
the pelvic health maintenance program (included with
the MPT) requires only a few sessions per month.
Is
there any discomfort?
Typically there is no discomfort. In fact, most patients
are surprised by how simple the entire process is. It
is possible, however, that certain conditions such as
hemorrhoids may cause discomfort.
Is
there any other method of weight training for these
muscles?
No. To receive the benefits of weight resistance training,
the weight must sit on top of the pelvic muscles. At
this point, we know of no other product offering progressive
resistance training, biofeedback and retraining for
the pelvic floor in men.
Can
women use the MPT?
Yes. Women have the additional option of using the Feminine
Personal Trainer™ (FPT), however, physical conditions
occasionally prevent the vaginal use of the FPT. In
those cases, many health care providers recommend the
MPT to women—with similar positive results of
the FPT.
How
much does it cost?
The cost of the product is only a fraction of the typical
medical treatment while the product and its benefits
will last a lifetime. There is no hidden or additional
cost associated with the MPT.
